Thursday, 25.7.2024, 15:00 to 18:30 Wilhelm und Horst Camerloher: Vice Versa

Tummelplatz Galerie Außen

This project is an attempt to convey the different representational possibilities of drawing and photography.

In 1963, when Wilhelm Camerloher was just 6 years old, a young construction engineer moved into their home. He was given the so-called garden room and the boy Wilhelm admired him because of his big shoes. In addition to his job as a technician, he took drawing courses at the Vienna Artists' Adult Education Centre.

After some time, Wilhelm also began to enjoy his drawing skills. One day he drew a portrait of him, having captured his face with a few skilful strokes and rendered it unmistakably.
The draughtsman was and is his cousin Horst Camerloher.
Drawing has accompanied Horst Camerloher throughout his professional life and beyond. Creating plans for a wide variety of building projects - vice versa freehand drawings, mostly of historical buildings.

And now a new challenge:
Wilhelm Camerloher used his drawings to photographically reproduce the buildings depicted.
Vice versa, Horst Camerloher drew from photographs by Wilhelm Camerloher.
